Angel Dialogues
In 1979, Cowan moved to Palm Beach, where his friends from Lexington, Kentucky arranged for him to stay at the Palm Beach Institute now called the Hanley Center where he stayed for treatment of alcoholism. His roommate was country singer Greg Allman which Cowan influenced Greg to take up painting. While there, Cowan painted House Representative Wilbur Mills who was the Head of the Ways and Means Committee in Washington, D.C.. It was at the Institute that he realized there was something bigger than himself. It was from this spiritual awakening that Angel Dialogues was born. One can see that Cowan was trying to come to terms with his sobriety as expressed in the turmoil within the compositions. From this spiritual understanding, he gained focus, dedication, and a sense of helping and giving back to people. He became mentally strong that gave him the ability to handle the biggest highlights of his career.
